Site manually updated

Was getting messages about a security release being available.
However, SimpleScripts, the application used to manage the site, did not include that release.
What to do?
Manually install Drupal (http://drupal.org/documentation/install/create-database).
Step 1. Download latest version of Drupal as .zip file
Step 2: Backup database and files
Step 3: Put site in maintenance mode (log in as admin, Configuration> Development> Maintenance mode)
Step 4: FTP upload all files (but not content of /sites), overwriting duplicates
Step 5: Run http://waisanen.us/update.php Confirmed site looked good.
Step 6: Checked Reports > Status Reports. No errors reported.
Step 7: Took site out of maintenance mode. Voila!
