The Plan To get the (original) agenda for 15-17 March 2013, click here. We'll be camping in Site 1, using the latrine/shower house next to it, and have option to use the Akela Village; flat ground, good trees for hammocks, but no pavillion. And we'll need to use a pavillion for training since we won't always have access to an indoor space. Attendees should come dressed for weather. If you're not familiar with the layout of the course, I've attached a diagram, a Google map, annotated with the locations of the COPE elements. Click here to download.
The Reality There's a saying in the military, "no plan survives the first encounter". Same with COPE. We camped on the land to the north of the shower house by the cabins, on the same side of the road as the shower house. It was convenient, except the water never got more than warm (and coupled with freezing air temps, made showering a challenge). Also, some of the adults in the cabins drove in around midnight. We were allowed to use Carol's Cabin for Friday and Saturday evening sessions, and the Sunday evening staff meeting. That was very nice. For the syllabus we actually followed, click here. Some photos of the event are on-line. Click here to pop up that page. They were the best I could do with an iPhone (which is why they look cramped and grainy). I've got about a dozen videos. I'll need to figure out how to upload them. History Originally, the Committee had proposed to have an instructor training session on May 4-6, 2012. The session had to be cancelled due to the course not being approved for use.
