Camporees! What fun! Opportunity to discover a part of the area flung wide by supporters of Scouting. Easy lift. Our fees (always nominal) would cover camping fees and bling (patches, banners). Camping "outdoors" with a few hundred of our closest friends. And there was always the possibility of learning something about our friends. Like which ones were VERY uncomfortable at high altitudes, like the top of Maryland Heights. Right, Glen? I honestly thought it was funny how Matt and Mike pretended to fall off the cliff, but were just hopping onto a ledge you couldn't see. In hindsight, that was mean. But sure was funny at the time. :)
